Peace, Siblings in Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forerunners and messengers advance the advent of our God. While John the baptizer\u2019s voice in the wilderness may be the principal focus of the day, Malachi\u2019s prophecy could as easily herald the coming Christ as forerunner of the Lord of hosts. Finally all the baptized are called to participate in the sharing of the gospel. In so doing we prepare the way for the coming of Jesus and assist all people in capturing a vision of the \u201csalvation of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prayer of the Day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Stir up our hearts, Lord God, to prepare the way of your only Son. By his coming give to all the people of the world knowledge of your salvation; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Psalm: Luke 1:68-79<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us.\u00a0(Lk.\u00a01:78)<\/em><\/small>\u200368Blessed are you, Lord, the\u00a0God of Israel,
\u2003\u2003you have come to your people and\u00a0set them free.
\u200369You have raised up for us a\u00a0mighty Savior,
\u2003\u2003born of the house of your\u00a0servant David.
\u200370Through your holy prophets, you promised of old to save us\u00a0from our enemies,
\u2003\u200371from the hands of\u00a0all who hate us,
\u200372to show mercy\u00a0to our forebears,
\u2003\u2003and to remember your\u00a0holy covenant.
\u200373This was the oath you swore to our\u00a0father Abraham:
\u2003\u200374to set us free from the hands of our\u00a0enemies,
\u2003free to worship you\u00a0without fear,
\u2003\u200375holy and righteous before you, all the days\u00a0of our life.
\u200376And you, child, shall be called the prophet of\u00a0the Most High,
\u2003\u2003for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way,
\u200377to give God\u2019s people knowledge\u00a0of salvation
\u2003\u2003by the forgiveness\u00a0of their sins.
\u200378In the tender compassion\u00a0of our God
\u2003\u2003the dawn from on high shall\u00a0break upon us,
\u200379to shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death,\u00a0and to guide our feet into the\u00a0way of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The God of hope, fill us with all joy and peace in believing, so that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ Jesus for whom we wait. Amen.<\/strong>
