Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

  January 18–25 is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. January is the month many Christians observe the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The Confession of Peter (January 18) and the Conversion of Paul (January 25) bookend the week.  

NOISY COIN COLLECTION

The congregational planning meeting was Saturday, January 14. At that meeting, we decided to collect “noisy” coins this year. On the second, third, and fourth Sundays of each month through October, the noisy coin collection will go toward the 150th Anniversary Building Projects. ALTAR GUILD MEETING

The Altar Guild members will have a short meeting on Saturday, January 21, to sign up for the 2017 schedule. Hopefully the meeting will begin no later than 10:45am, whenever we are finished taking down decorations. Contact Sandy Steinbeck if you have questions or can’t make the meeting, but want to participate.  

FRIENDSHIP MANOR SERVICE

There has been a monthly communion worship service at Friendship Manor, led by Pr. John Leaf, First Lutheran’s Visitation Pastor, the last few months. NURSERY UPDATE

The Learning chair and council looked at the budget for next year and decided the nursery assistant position was no longer needed at this time. WORLD HUNGER SUNDAY Envelopes for donations designated to assist with the ELCA’s World Hunger programs will be in the bulletins Sunday morning, November 27. Envelopes are also available in the pews and narthex. Donations help alleviate hunger in the United States and around the world.  

CHRISTMAS DECORATING

The Altar Guild will put up the Christmas trees and crèche on Saturday morning, November 26. We will meet about 10am. They will be decorated at a later time. If you are available, your help will be appreciated. Thanks, Sandy.
